It shall be the responsibility of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designated representative to conduct an annual orientation program for professional personnel regarding policies of the Sabine Parish School Board and such other topics as may be necessary for the effective operation and improvement of the Sabine Parish Schools.

The building principal or immediate supervisor may assign a consulting teacher to every probationary teacher upon entrance of the probationary teacher into the school system.  The consulting teacher, insofar as possible, shall be a tenured teacher with a minimum of three (3) years teaching experience and shall be engaged in teaching within the same grade, building, or discipline as the probationary teacher.  The consulting teacher will assist the probationary teacher in acclimating to the teaching profession and the school system.  The consulting teacher shall not be involved in the evaluation of the probationary teacher.

The building principal or the immediate supervisor shall orient all teachers with the evaluation procedures and standards during the first two (2) weeks of their assignment to their respective building or program.  Each teacher shall be advised as to who shall observe and evaluate his/her performance.  No formal observation shall take place until such orientation has been completed.
