EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION DURING EMERGENCIES AND CRISIS
During closures of the school system due to emergencies and crisis, the school system may still compensate its employees who are unable to work. The Superintendent shall have authority to specify and make clarifications regarding the continuation of compensation during an emergency.
It is acknowledged that some employees of the Sabine Parish School Board may have their salaries and benefits paid for by a Federal or State Grant. For the sake of equity, employees, regardless of the funding source of their salaries and benefits, may have their salary and benefits continued when the system closes. It is expected that in most cases of National, State, or Local emergency, the Federal Agency or Federal Grant Authority, shall cooperate and allow for said continuation of salaries and benefits to the maximum extent allowable by law for those employees who are Federally Funded.
This policy is in reference to permanent, salaried, full time employees of the Sabine Parish School Board and any clarifications or determinations shall be at the discretion of the Superintendent.
This policy is supported (in part) by Attorney General Jeff Landry’s letter dated March 23, 2020.
New policy: April 27, 2020
