PROFESSIONAL STAFF DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Sabine Parish School Board recognizes its particular responsibility to provide opportunity for the continual professional growth of its staff.  Such opportunities shall include special in-service courses and workshops, an adequate professional library, assistance from supervisors and consultants, and -- within budgetary limitations -- school visitation and attendance at professional conferences and meetings.

It shall be the policy of the Board to strongly encourage teachers, supervisors, and administrators to attend programs of continuing education and in-service training established to provide an opportunity for the professional and technical growth of employees in all areas of curriculum.  Such programs provide opportunities for the improvement of personal skills and techniques to increase efficiency in instruction and in the performance of service.  In addition to individual school programs, periodic general in-service meetings and training programs may be held throughout the parish, as well as conducted by the Louisiana Department of Education.  All teachers shall be expected to attend all in-parish inservice meetings and programs that may be scheduled.
