ENERGY CONSERVATION

The Sabine Parish School Board is committed to the wise use and planned management of energy resources to reduce energy costs without sacrificing reasonable comfort.

Therefore, the Sabine Parish School Board shall authorize the Superintendent and staff to develop and implement a comprehensive Energy Management Program for all Sabine Parish School System facilities which will result in cost reductions and net savings to the school system. The Sabine Parish Energy Management Program shall include, but not be limited to:

• The implementation of a formalized, sustainable, people-oriented energy conservation program focused on behavioral changes in staff, faculty, and students.
   

• The implementation of a system to evaluate, monitor and audit utility bills and rate schedules.
   

• The development of school-based incentive plans with targeted energy savings, through consultation and goal setting with school faculty and staff.
   

• The identification of additional operational efficiencies and other programs that target energy savings such as lighting retrofit, filter upgrades, schedule changes, maintenance programs, etc.

The implementation and enforcement of the Energy Management Program must receive the full support and endorsement of the Superintendent and all school system administrators.  The Energy Management Program will require continuous effort and commitment of all faculty, staff and students on all school campuses and in all facilities within the Sabine Parish School System to produce desired results.
