1. Meeting Opening:
The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a regular public session on January 13, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. at 265 Middle Creek Road, Many, Louisiana, with the following members present: Kowonno Greene, Board President; Stacy Alford, Dr. Leah Byles, Everett Guidry, Josh Jenkins, Dean Johnson, Donald Remedies, and Terrell Snelling
Absent: John Stewart
President Kowonno Greene called the meeting to order. Mr. Greene called on Dean Johnson to lead the invocation and Mr. Greene led the Pledge of Allegiance.
2. Recognition of Visitors:
No visitors were present.
3. Consent Agenda:
On motion by Josh Jenkins and second by Leah Byles, it was carried to approve and adopt the Consent Agenda as follows:
A. Approve and adopt the Special Called Board Meeting Minutes of December 30, 2024;
B. Approve and adopt The Sabine Index as the official School Board Journal for 2025;
C. Approve the move of Regular April Board Meeting Date and adopt the proposed Regular Meeting Dates for 2025-2026;
D. Approve and adopt Consent Agenda Items 3A-3D.
4. Regular Agenda Items:
A. Mr. Greene called for nominations for 2025 Board President. Mr. Snelling nominated Stacy Alford. Everett Guidry seconded the nomination. Terrell Snelling moved the nomination cease with a second by Josh Jenkins. The vote for Stacy Alford as 2025 Board President went as follows:
Yeas: Terrell Snelling, Donald Remedies, Dr. Leah Byles, Kowonno Greene, Everett Guidry, Josh Jenkins, and Dean Johnson.
Nays: None
Abstain: Stacy Alford
B. Mr. Greene called for nominations for 2025 Board Vice President: Leah Byles nominated Terrell Snelling. Kowonno Greene seconded the nomination. Dr. Byles moved the nominations cease. Mr. Greene seconded the motion. The vote for Terrell Snelling as 2025 Board Vice President went as follows:
Yeas: Stacy Alford, Donald Remedies, Dr. Leah Byles, Kowonno Greene, Everett Guidry, Josh Jenkins and Dean Johnson.
Nays: None
Abstain: Terrell Snelling
C. The Resolution Declaring January as School Board Member Recognition Month was read aloud by Kowonno Greene. On motion by Leah Byles and second by Everett Guidry, it was carried to adopt the Resolution.

RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the mission of public schools is to meet the diverse educational needs of all children and to empower them to become competent, productive contributors to a democratic society and an ever-changing world; and
WHEREAS, local school board members are committed to children and believe that all children can be successful learners and that the best education is tailored to the individual needs of the child; and
WHEREAS, local school board members work closely with parents, educational professionals, and other community members to create the educational vision we want for our students; and
WHEREAS, local school board members are responsible for ensuring the structure that provides a solid foundation for our school system; and
WHEREAS, local school board members are strong advocates for public education and are responsible for communicating the needs of the school district to the public and the public’s expectations to the district;
NOW, THEREFORE, The Sabine Parish School District, do hereby declare our appreciation to the members of the Sabine Parish School Board and proclaim January 2025 as
School Board Recognition Month in Sabine Parish. We urge all citizens to join us in recognizing the dedication and hard work of local school board members and in working with them to mold an education system that meets the needs of both today’s and tomorrow’s children.

D. On motion by Josh Jenkins and second by Terrell Snelling it was carried to adopt LSBA Code of Conduct for Louisiana School Board Members.
E. On motion by Everett Guidry and second by Stacy Alford, it was carried to approve Town of Many SRO Agreement.
