1.       Meeting Opening:

 

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a regular public session on June 12, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at 265 Middle Creek Road, Many, Louisiana, with the following members present:  Dale Skinner, Board President; Kowonno Greene, Board Vice President;, Dr. Leah Byles, Everett Guidry, Josh Jenkins, Terrell Snelling, Donald Remedies, and John Stewart.

 

Absent:  Stacy Alford

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dale Skinner and after a moment of silence, Dr. Leah Byles gave the invocation and led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

2.      Recognition of Visitors:

 

There were no recognitions.

 

3.      Consent Agenda:

 

On motion by Donald Remedies and second by Josh Jenkins, it was carried to approve and adopt the Consent Agenda as follows:

 

A.     Approve and adopt Regular Board Meeting Minutes of May 14, 2023;

B.     Approve and adopt the following policy (first reading):  DJE – Purchasing;

C.     Approve MOU between SPSB and NSU for Dual Enrollment 2023-2024;

D.     Approve and adopt Consent Agenda Items 3A-3D.

 

4.      Regular Agenda Items:

 

A.     On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and second by John Stewart it was carried to authorize and approve Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department.

 

B.     On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and second by Josh Jenkins, it was carried to authorize and approve Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with North Sabine Fire Protection District.

 

C.     On motion by Kowonno Greene and second by John Stewart, it was carried to accept the high bids from the bid tabulation after bid opening on June 12, 2023 for the sale of five (5) school buses.  The bids were awarded to:  Cook for $1,205, $1,605, $1,805 and $2,105.

 

D.     On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and second by Everett Guidry, it was carried to declare two (2) school buses be listed as surplus equipment and authorize disposal method #1 or #4 to occur at Administration’s discretion.

 

E.     On motion by Donald Remedies and second by John Stewart, it was carried to award and approve Food Service Bids for July 2023 through June 2024 per the Food Service Coordinator’s recommendation as follows: 

 

1.      Frozen food, Bread and Meat Bid award to---LAMM

2.      Dry goods bid award to---LAMM

3.      Ice cream bid award to---SYSCO

4.      Fresh Produce bid award to---LAMM

5.      Milk and Juice bid award to---MID-STATE MARKETING, LLC

6.      Paper and cleaning bid award to---LONGS PREFFERED PRODUCTS

 

F.     On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and second by Donald Remedies, it was carried to authorize Administration to make publications necessary for 2023-2024 Budget Adoption and post required Notices when appropriate.

 

5.      Superintendent’s Report:

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
