1.      Meeting Opening:

 

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a regular public session on April 17, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at 265 Middle Creek Road, Many, Louisiana, with the following members present:  Dale Skinner, Board President; Kowonno Greene, Board Vice President; Stacy Alford, Dr. Leah Byles, Everett Guidry, Josh Jenkins, Donald Remedies, and John Stewart.

 

Absent:  Terrell Snelling.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Dale Skinner and after a moment of silence, Stacy Alford led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

2.       Recognition of Visitors:

 

A.     The Recognition of the Zwolle High School Boys State Champions Basketball Team was postponed until next month’s meeting.

B.     The Board Recognized Many High School’s State Champions Bass Fishing Team.

C.     The Board Recognized Many High School’s State Champions Power Lifting Team.

D.     The Board Recognized The District Principal of the Year and the District’s Teachers of the Year:

a.      Principal of the Year, Many Elementary School Principal, Holly Jenkins;

b.      District High School Teacher of the Year, Zwolle High School Teacher, Amy Eaves;

c.      District Middle School Teacher of the Year, Ebarb School Teacher Jessica Gatti;

d.      District Elementary Teacher of the Year, Many Elementary Teacher Maegan Burkett.

 

3.      Consent Agenda:

 

On motion by Kowonno Greene and second by Everett Guidry, it was carried to approve and adopt the consent agenda as follows:

 

A.     Approve and adopt Regular Board Meeting Minutes of March 20, 2023;

B.     Approve Out-of-State Field Trip for MHS Students (6-8) and 2 adults to attend a welding contest in Center, Texas on April 20, 2023;

C.     Approve Out-of-State Field Trip for NHS students (4) and 2 adults to Moody Gardens, Galveston, Texas May 18-19, 2023;

D.     Approve Out-of-State Field Trip for CHS Pre-K students (38) and 6 adults to attend Allen Trout Zoo, Lufkin, Texas on May 1, 2023;

E.     Approve 8G Student Enhancement Block Grant Budget 2023-2024 – Revision #1;

F.     Approve 2023-2024 Head Start COLA & Quality Improvement Supplemental Application;

G.    Approve 2022-2023 Early Childhood Consolidated Application – Amendment #2;

H.     Approve and adopt Consent Agenda Items 3A-3H.

 

4.      Regular Agenda Items:

 

A.     On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and second by Kowonno Greene, it was carried to approve Out-of-State Field Trip with monetary assistance for CHS, EHS, MHS, NHS and PHHS students (15) and 2 adults to attend Ed Rising National Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 28 – July 3, 2023.

 

B.     On motion by Donald Remedies and second by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to approve Administration to sign Audit Engagement Letter and SAUP Engagement Letter as presented with Kolder, Slaven & Company, LLC.

 

5.       Superintendent’s Report:

 

Mr. Wright reminded the Board that next month’s meeting is moved to May 15th due to a conflict with graduations.

 

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
