1.     Meeting Opening:

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a regular called public session on February 14, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. at 695 Peterson Street, Many, Louisiana, with the following members present:  Terrell Snelling, Board President; Dr. Leah Byles, Board Vice President; Daron Chandler, Spencer Faust, Genevieve Gordon, Donald Garcie, Kowonno Greene, and Donald Remedies.

Absent:  Dale Skinner

The meeting was called to order by President Terrell Snelling.  Spencer Faust gave the invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

2.      Recognition of Visitors:

No visitors were recognized at this time.

3.      Consent Agenda:

On motion by Donald Garcie and seconded by Kowonno  Greene, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

A.    Approve and adopt Board Meeting Minutes of January 10, 2022;

B.    Approve ACHIEVE! Grant and Budget;

C.    Approve Out-of-State Travel for NHS BB girls to travel to Galveston, Texas (12 students & 5 adults) April 29-May 1, 2022, as reward for successful season;

D.    Approve REAL Consolidated Budget;

E.    Approve 2021-2022 Super App Consolidated Grant Final Allocation Budget;

F.    Approve Addendum #1 to MOU with Faithlynn’s Learning Academy, LLC;

G.    Approve and adopt Consent Agenda Items 3A-3G.

4.     Regular Agenda Items:

A.    On motion by Genevieve Gordon and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to approve 2022-2023 School Calendar.

B.    Due to conflict with the Louisiana School Boards Association Annual Conference, there would not be a quorum present on March 7.  On motion by Donald Garcie and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to move the March meeting date to March 21, 2022.

C.    On motion by Daron Chandler and seconded by Kowonno Greene, it was carried to approve 2022 SPSB Committees as follows:

SABINE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD 2022 BOARD COMMITTEES

1.     Finance Committee:  Terrell Snelling, Chairman - Entire Board

2.     Transportation Committee:  William D. Garcie, Chairman - Spencer Faust, Daron Chandler

3.     Food Services Committee:  Donald Remedies, Chairman - Spencer Faust, Dale Skinner, Dr. Leah Byles

4.     Legislative Liaison Committee:  Genevieve Gordon, Chairman - Kowonno Greene, William D. Garcie, Donald Remedies

5.     Head Start Committee:  Kowonno Greene, Chairman - Dr. Leah Byles, Genevieve Gordon, Dale Skinner

6.     Tax Commission Committee:  Rodney Wilson, Daron Chandler

D.    On motion by Donald Remedies and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to authorize permission to seek / participate in RFP process for Business Office Software and authorize Finance Director to seek new business office software by conducting and/or participating in an RFP with the five school district consortium.

E.    On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to confirm Negreet and Florien High School public application to the Public Services Commission’s Statewide Energy Efficiency Program / Grant / School Lighting Improvements as presented by Finance Director and authorize Finance Director / Superintendent to sign necessary paperwork.

F.    On motion by Donald Remedies and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to Award RFP to Vendor per IT Supervisor’s recommendation and authorize IT Director, Supervisor / Finance Director to sign necessary paperwork.

G.    There was no action taken on this item to hear update and consider taking action(s) necessary regarding redistricting.
