1.     Meeting Opening:

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a special called public session on September 20, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at 695 Peterson Street, Many, Louisiana, with the following members present:  Terrell Snelling, Board President; Dr. Leah Byles, Board Vice President; Daron Chandler, Genevieve Gordon, Spencer Faust, Donald Garcie, Kowonno Greene, Donald Remedies and Dale Skinner.

Absent:  None

President Terrell Snelling called the meeting to order.  After a moment of silence, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

2.      Special Called Agenda Items:

A.    Interview of Applicants for Superintendent

At this time, Mr. Terrell Snelling turned the proceeding over to Mr. Robert Hammonds, Attorney at Law.

Mr. Hammonds explained that the applicants would be interviewed one at a time with Mr. Jones going first as was pre-determined by a draw of names.  Board Members would ask their one question with any Board Member being able to ask a follow up question as long as the question pertained to the current question being answered.  Board Members would ask their question in order of their district number (1-9) for the first round and in reverse (9-1) for the second round.  Mr. Hammonds then asked if there were any questions.  There was none.  At this time, Mr. Wright left the room and Mr. Jones took the floor.

Mr. Eddie Jones, Jr. presented a power point presentation to the Board in his opening statement.  Interview questions from the Board were asked and answered by Mr. Jones. 

Mr. Jones then gave his closing statement and Mr. Snelling declared a short break in order to change candidates.

Mr. Jones then exited the room and Mr. Shane Wright was brought in.  Mr. Wright presented a power point presentation to the Board during his opening statement.  Interview questions from the Board were asked and answered by Mr. Wright.  Mr. Wright then gave his closing statement.

B.    Selection of Superintendent and/or determination of next steps in Superintendent search process

Mr. Terrell Snelling called for an electronic vote.  There were no objections to an electronic vote.  The applicants’ names were substituted into BoardDocs for yea and nay.  The Board Members were able to identify and vote for a candidate.  The Board voted as follows:

Applicant, Eddie Jones, Jr.:  Daron Chandler, Dale Skinner, Donald Remedies, Kowonno K. Greene.

Applicant, Shane Wright:  Donald Garcie, Spencer Faust, Terrell Snelling, Dr. Leah V. Byles, Genevieve Gordon.

Mr. Terrell Snelling confirmed the votes by polling the Board Members.  There were no objections or changes.

Shane Wright was elected as the next Superintendent of Schools by a vote of 5 to 4.

3.      Adjournment

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
