1.      Meeting Opening

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on January 11, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  Terrell Snelling, Board President; Dr. Leah Byles, Vice President; Daron Chandler, Spencer Faust, Donald Garcie, Genevieve Gordon, Kowonno Greene, Donald Remedies and Dale Skinner

Absent:  None.

At 5:30 p.m., the regular meeting of the board began with a Call to Order by President Terrell D. Snelling.  Kowonno Greene gave the Invocation and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

2.      Recognition of Visitors

No visitors were recognized.

3.      Consent Agenda

On motion of Donald Garcie and seconded by Spencer Faust, Consent Agenda Items 3A-3D were approved as follows:

A.     Approve and adopt Board Meeting Minutes January 4, 2021;

B.     Approve and adopt School Board Meeting Dates through June of 2022;

C.     Approve and adopt the following policies (first reading):

1.      Policy CED – Employment of Superintendent

2.      Policy GBDA – Employment of Retired Personnel

3.      Policy GBRIB – Sick Leave

4.      Policy IDFAB – Sports Injury Management and Concussions

5.      Policy BC School Board Meetings

6.      Policy EDF (new) – Business Continuity and Technology Disaster Recovery

D.     Approve Consent Agenda Items 3A-3D.

4.      Regular Agenda:

A.     Election of School Board President for the Year 2021

On motion by Donald Garcie and seconded by Kowonno Greene, Terrell Snelling was nominated for Board President.  There were no further nominations.  Yea votes:  Terrell Snelling, Kowonno Green, Genevieve Gordon, Dr. Leah Byles, Spencer Faust, Donald Garcie; Nay votes:  Donald Remedies and Dale Skinner.  Abstain:  Daron Chandler.  It was carried that Mr. Snelling is 2021 Board President.

B.     Election of School Board Vice President for the Year 2021.

On motion by Genevieve Gordon and seconded by Donald Garcie, Dr. Leah Byles was nominated for Board Vice-President.  There were no further nominations.  Aye votes:  Daron Chandler, Donald Garcie, Spencer Faust, Terrell Snelling, Dale Skinner, Donald Remedies, Dr. Leah Byles, Genevieve Gordon, Kowonno Green.  Nay:  None.  Abstain:  None.  It was carried that Dr. Byles is 2021 Board Vice-President.

C.     Consider approval and adoption of Policy Change GBRIBC – Emergency Family and Medical Leave (EFMLA) and Emergency Paid Sick Leave (COVID-19 Pandemic) on (First Reading).

On motion by Daron Chandler and seconded by Kowonno Greene was carried to approve and adopt Policy Change GBRIBC – Emergency Family and Medical Leave (EFMLA) and Emergency Paid Sick Leave (COVID-19 Pandemic) (First Reading).
