1.      Meeting Opening

The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on January 13, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  Terrell Snelling, Board President; Roderick Davis, Board Vice President, Dr. Leah Byles, Daron Chandler, Spencer Faust, Donald Garcie, Genevieve Gordon, and Donald Remedies.

Absent:  Dale Skinner.

At 5:00 p.m. the regular meeting of the board began with a Call to Order by President Terrell D. Snelling.  The Invocation was given by Spencer Faust and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

2.      Recognition of Visitors

There were none.

3.      Consent Agenda

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

A.     Approval and adoption of the December 9, 2019 Minutes as signed;

B.     Approval of Out of State Field Trip Request from MHS to Carthage, Texas for 10 students, 2 adults and 1 teacher to attend Welding Contest at Panola Junior College on February 20, 2020;

C.     Approval of Out of State Field Trip Request from EHS to Carthage, Texas for 5 students, 1 adult and 1 teacher to attend Welding Contest at Panola Junior College on February 20, 2020;

D.     Approval of out of state athletic event for PHHS to attend baseball tournament at Joaquin High School, Joaquin, Texas for 20 students, 2 adults and 2 teachers on February 27-29, 2020;

E.     Approval of Consent Agenda Items 3A-3E.

4.      Regular Agenda Items:

A.     Election of School Board President for the Year 2020.

a.      On Motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, nominations for board President were offered:  Roderick Davis nominated Terrell Snelling.  Donald Remedies nominated Daron Chandler. Roderick Davis moved nominations cease and Spencer Faust seconded the motion.  A vote via paper ballot was taken.  Rodney Wilson, Director of Finance, calculated and read the votes.  It was carried that Terrell Snelling remain Board President with Mr. Snelling receiving the votes of Donald Garcie, Genevieve Gordon, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust and Dr. Leah Byles.  Mr. Chandler received the votes of Donald Remedies and Daron Chandler.  Mr. Terrell Snelling abstained from voting.

B.     Election of School Board Vice President for the Year 2020.

a.      On Motion by Daron Chandler and seconded by Donald Remedies, nominations for board Vice President were offered:  Mr. Donald Garcie nominated Dr. Leah Byles.  Mr. Daron Chandler nominated Mr. Roderick Davis.  Mr. Daron Chandler moved nominations cease and Mr. Spencer Faust seconded the motion.  A vote via paper ballot was taken.  Mr. Rodney Wilson, Director of Finance, calculated and read the votes.  It was carried that Dr. Leah Byles be elected 2020 Board Vice President with Dr. Byles receiving the votes of Terrell Snelling, Genevieve Gordon, Dr. Leah Byles, Spencer Faust and Donald Garcie.  Mr. Davis receiving the votes of Roderick Davis, Daron Chandler and Donald Remedies.

C.     On motion by Daron Chandler and seconded by Roderick Davis, it was carried to approve Change Order #3 for Sabine Parish School Board Warehouse & Technology Center.

5.      Superintendent Report

Informational only.

6.      Adjournment

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
