The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in a public session on October 8, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present: Terrell D. Snelling, President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Donald H. Remedies and Dale Skinner.
The meeting was called to order by President Terrell D. Snelling, after the Invocation, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.
Absent: Daron Chandler and James R. Martin.
Jeff Morrow, Executive Director of Sabine Council on Aging, Inc., presented a brief summary of SCOA benefits and presented the Board with a Needs Assessment Survey.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:
· Approve and Adopt the September 20, 2018 Minutes as signed
· Approve and Adopt the 2018-2019 8G Student Enhancement Block Grant Budget
· Approve Out of State Field Trip for 125 students, 11 adults and 9 employees to travel from Zwolle High School to Galveston, Texas on October 24, 2018
· Approve Out of State Field Trip for 6 students, 1 adult and 1 employee from Florien High School to Waskom, Texas on November 3, 2018
· Approve out of State Field Trip for 110 students, 11 adults and 8 employees from Florien High School to Houston, Texas on October 24, 2018
· Consider and Adopt the following polices (first reading):
1. IFBGA – Internet Safety and Technology
2. JCDAF – Bullying, Hazing, Harassment and Discrimination
3. JCDAG – Threats of Terrorism or Violence
4. GBN – Dismissal of Employees
On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve and adopt the following policies (second reading):
1. EBBB – School and Student Safety
2. EBBC – Emergency/Crisis Management
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to award bid and authorize Administration to sign necessary paperwork for Job # 2018-22 A New Outdoor Play Cover for Many Junior High School to M&M, Inc.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to award bid and authorize Administration to sign necessary paperwork for Job #2018-21 Synthetic Turf Fields for Many High School to Global Synthetics Environmental, LLC.
On motion by Dr. Leah Byles and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to award bid and authorize Administration to sign necessary paperwork for Refurbished Desktop Computers with award period through December 31, 2019 to VIG Solutions.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to award bid and authorize Administration to sign necessary paperwork for the sale of a 2012 Year Model, PAHA Make, Mobile home to Jacquelyn M. Mason.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to authorize the Administration to advertise to receive bids for Warehouse/IT Department at the old MES campus.
There was no business under the Superintendent’s Report, informational only.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
