The Parish School Board met to conduct a Public Hearing with Regard to the Adoption and Levy of the 2016 Millage Rate(s) of the Sabine Parish School Board on August 1, 2016, at 5:45 P.M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present:  Terrell D. Snelling, President, James R. Martin, Vice President, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Dr. Leah Byles, Dale Skinner and Donald H. Remedies

 

Absent:  Daron Chandler and Roderick Davis

 

At 5:45 p.m. the Public Hearing with Regard to the Adoption and Levy of the 2016 Millage Rate(s) of the Sabine Parish School Board began.

 

There were no public comments during the Public Comment Period.

 

The Public Hearing was adjourned.

 

At 6:00 p.m. the regular meeting of the Board began with a Call to Order by President Terrell D. Snelling, and the Invocation was offered.  The Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the President welcomed the visitors.

 

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Dr. Leah Byles, it was carried to approve and adopt the July 11, 2016, Minutes, as Signed.

 

The following Resolution was read by Rodney Wilson, Director of Business Services.

 

RESOLUTION

             BE IT RESOLVED, that the following millage(s) are hereby levied on the 2016 tax roll on all property subject to taxation by SABINE PARISH SCHOOL BOARD:

             BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Sabine, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2016, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.

The foregoing resolution was read in full.

 

Public Comment Period.

 

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Dale Skinner, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

             YEAS:  Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, James R. Martin, Dr. Leah Byles, Terrell D. Snelling

             NAYS:   None

             ABSTAINED:  None

             ABSENT:  Daron Chandler, Roderick Davis
