The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on April 18, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  Terrell D. Snelling, President, James R. Martin, Vice-President, Leah Byles, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Daron Chandler, Dale Skinner and Donald H. Remedies.

The meeting was called to order by President Terrell D. Snelling, the Invocation was offered, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the President welcomed the visitors.

Recognition of Sabine Award Winners was given by Sandra Cosio and Shane Wright

A.     Madison Holmes from Negreet High School for Upward Bound State Essay Writing Competition

B.     Recognition of Klein Christian Pearce from Florien High School for 12 years of Perfect Attendance

C.     Recognition of Ebarb High School’s Electrician’s Team

D.     Recognition of Many High School’s Welding Team

E.     Recognition of Zwolle High School Boys’ Basketball Team

F.     Recognition of Aspiring Leaders from Florien High School and Zwolle high School

G.    Recognition of Teachers of the Year and Principal of the Year

On motion of James R. Martin and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

·        Approval and Adoption of March 14, 2016, Minutes, as Signed

·        Approval for Out-of-State Field Trips:

A.     Converse High School – 15 students and 2 adults to Woden, Texas on June 5 – 10, 2016, for Basketball Camp

B.     Converse High School – 9 students and 2 adults to San Marcos, Texas or Denton, Texas on June 27 – July 2, 2016, for Basketball Camp

C.     Negreet High School – 10 students and 2 adults to Galveston, Texas on May 31 – June 2, 2016, for a reward to the NHS Yearbook Staff

·        Approval of the NCLB Consolidated Application 15/16 Rollover and Spring Allocation Revisions

·        Approval of the LA 4 Early Childhood 2015-2016 Budget Revision #1

·        Approval of the 2016-2017 Head Start Five Year Grant Continuation Grant – Year 2

·        Approval of the Contract for Professional or Technical Services By and Between Dr. Connie Melder and Sabine Parish School Board through the Believe and Prepare Grant

·        Approval of the Contract for Professional or Technical Services By and Between Dr. Ramona Wynder and Sabine Parish School Board through the Believe and Prepare Grant

·        Approval of Contract to purchase 4 months of Teacher Recruiting Billboards through Believe and Prepare Grants

On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to approve Out-of-State Travel for 2 students and 1 adult from Ebarb High School to attend the Native Youth in Food and Agriculture Southeastern Regional Summit in Lake Placid, Florida on April 27 – May 3, 2016.  Monetary assistance requested.

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Leah Byles, it was carried to approve Job Description Revision – Payroll Clerk/Payroll Accountant.

On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to  Declare as Surplus Equipment and Authorize the Administration to Advertise to Seek Bids to Sell Ebarb High School Activity Bus (no longer runs).

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to approve Participation in the Community Eligibility Provision.

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to approve and adopt the Following Revised Policies (Second Reading)

On motion by Leah Byles and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to approve the Revised 2016-2017 School Calendar including Testing Dates.

There was no business under the Superintendent’s Report, informational only.

There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
