The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on March 9, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Daron Chandler, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, and James R. Martin.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the President welcomed the visitors.

 

Absent:  None

 

School and District 2015 Students of the Year were recognized and presented awards by Shelly Rivers, Coordinator of Student Services and Dr. Sara Ebarb, Superintendent, and are as follows:

 

·         Neely Fluitt, Many Junior High School, 5th Grade

·         Dekota McGee, Florien High School, 8th Grade

·         Tyler Ryals Johnson, Florien High School, 12th Grade

·         Student of the Year for Each School

 

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

 

·         Approval and Adoption of February 9, 2015, Minutes, as Signed

 

·         Approval for Request for Out-of-State Field Trips:

A.    Many Preschool Center – Ellen Trout Zoo, Lufkin, Texas on March 18, 2015

B.    Negreet High School – Basketball Camp, Fort Walton, Florida, June 6-10, 2015

 

·         Approval of NCLB Consolidated Application 14-15 Rollover and Spring Allocation Revision

 

·         Approval of the Head Start Annual Report 2013-2014

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve the Head Start Program Plans 2014-2015

 

·         Transportation

·         Program Governance

·         Services for Children with Disabilities

·         Early Childhood Development and Education

·         Family Partnerships

·         Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance

·         Early Childhood Development and Health Services

 

On motion by Daron Chandler and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve and adopt the following Revised Policies:

 

A.    File:      ABCC, Term of Office

B.    File:      BCBB, Notification of School Board Meetings

C.    File:      BCBD, Agenda Preparation and Dissemination

D.    File:      BCBH, Minutes of School Board Meetings

E.    File:      BCBK, Executive Sessions

F.    File:      GBRJ, Substitute Personnel

G.    File:      ID, Curriculum

H.    File:      IFA, Instructional Materials (New Policy)

I.      File:      JBC, School Admission

 

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve and adopt a Resolution to hereby request the Louisiana Board of Elementary and Secondary Education to consider the overall validity of all testing results in establishing a reliable baseline District Performance Score (DPS) and School Performance Score (SPS) if the overall integrity of the testing process has been compromise by external factors.

 

On motion by Donald H. Remedies and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to approve the Issuance of a One (1) Time, Non-recurring Check to be Distributed on April 24, 2015, from the Sales Tax Fund.

 

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Terrell D. Snelling, it was authorized to Seek an Attorney General Opinion regarding Vocational Agriculture Teacher Work and Salary Schedule.

 

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Tenure Hearing Officer List.

 

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Daron Chandler, it was carried to approve the 2015-2016 School Calendar with the requirement that each school community host a Veteran’s Day program/celebration.

 

Rodney Wilson, Director of Business Services, presented a Fiscal Update during the Superintendent’s Report.
