The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on August 11, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  James R. Martin, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, and J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman. 

Absent:  Imon Jones and Roderick Davis

The meeting was called to order by President Martin, the Invocation was offered, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the President welcomed the visitors.

Sandra Cosio, Director of Student Support Services, recognized 2013 – 2014 Aspiring Leaders.

Carla Parrie, Director of Special Education, presented an update of the 2013 – 2014 SMILES of Louisiana Dental Program.

Debra Lee, Director of Federal Programs and Curriculum, presented an Update of Assessment Data.

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

·       Approval and Adoption of July 14, 2014, Minutes, as Signed

·       Approval of Transfer for Russell Peace from ZES Assistant Principal to ZHS Assistant Principal

·       Approval of MOU Between Sabine School Board and Louisiana Technical College

C.    Natchitoches Campus

·       Review Revised Policies (First Reading)

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling it was carried to authorize Secretary/Clerk Stipends to be Distributed in June, 2015 as Presented for Fiscal Year 2014 – 2015.  Voting against, J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman.

The budget document was presented to the Board for review.  A budget workshop will be held with the board on August 18, 2014 at 6:00 p.m.  September 8, 2014 at 6:15 p.m., is to be the date set for the public budget hearing and subsequent meeting for the budget adoption.  A public notice of the budget adoption hearing, availability for inspection at the central office, and a summary of the budget must be published.  The Board was informed that the budget document would be available for public inspection at the school board office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

On motion by J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to authorize the Administration to Publish the Special Revenue Fund Budgets for 2014 – 2015.

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to adopt a Resolution with Respect to the municipalities Continuing Disclosure cooperative Initiative of the Securities and Exchange Commission.

On motion by J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to authorize Suspension of Policy in Order to Adopt on First Reading the Policies Listed in Item XII.

On motion by Terrell Snelling and seconded by J.A. “Buddy” Veuleman, it was carried to approve for adoption the following Amended Policies

A.     File:  GBK, Employee Discipline

B.     File:  GBN, Dismissal of Employees

Under the Superintendent’s Report, the Board Members received Laptops and Initial Training.

As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
