The Parish School Board of Many, Louisiana, Sabine Parish, met in public session on November 4, 3002, at 6:300 P.M. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:  J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Donald H. Remedies, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie,  Imon Jones, James R. Martin, Dale Skinner, and Terrell Snelling.  

Absent:  None

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the President welcomed the visitors. 

Students with perfect assessment scores were recognized and received a certificate. 

A concerned parent voiced her concerns to the Board and no action was taken.

Debra Lee, Curriculum Director, gave a presentation of School and District Performance Scores.

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda, as follows:

Ø  Approval and Adoption of October 7, 2013, and October 21, 2013, Meetings, as Read 

Ø  Approval of the Following Head Start Documents:

A.    Head Start Annual Report, 2012-2013

B.    Community Needs Assessment, 2013

C.    Head Start Program Plans, 2013-2014

D.    Head Start Ongoing Monitoring Plan, 2013-2014

Ø  Approval of the 21^st CCLC Cohort 8.0 Budget Revision No. 1 - FY 2013-2014 Approval of NCLB Consolidated Application 2013-2014 Rollover  

Ø  Approval of SRCL Year 3 Cohort 1 Grant 

Ø   Approval of Request for Out-of-State Field Trips for Many High School:

A.    MHS Band to travel to Corpus Christi, TX, on May 2-4, 2013, to perform in organized musical activities (approximately 25 students and 8-10 adults)

B.    Many FCCLA to travel to Marshall Pottery in  Marshall, TX, on December 6, 2013 (approximately 25 students, 3 adults)

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to Canvass the Returns and Declare the Results of the Special Elections Held in Many School District No. 34 of Sabine Parish, Louisiana and Sales Tax District No, 1 (Many) of the Parish School Board of the Parish of Sabine, State of Louisiana, on Saturday, October 19, 2013, to authorize the incurring of debt and issuance of bonds and the levy of a sales and use tax therein. 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to approve the Architectural Service Agreement between the Sabine Parish School Board and Yeager, Watson & Associates, Inc. Architect.

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to approve and adopt the following Revised Policies (second reading):

A.     File:  GBRK, Annual Leave

B.     File:  BBBC, School Board Member Continuing Education

C.     File:  DFD, Tax and Bond Elections and Sales

D.     File:  EBBC, Emergency/Crisis Management

E.     File:  EBBCA-R, Bomb Threats – Deletion

F.     File:  EBC, Buildings and Grounds Security 

G.    File:  EE, Child Nutrition Program Management

H.    File:  GAMJ, Miscellaneous Conditions of Employment

There was no business under Superintendent’s Report, informational only.  The Aspiring Leaders were introduced at this time by Sandra Cosio, Director of Student Support “Services

As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned.
