The Parish School Board met in public session on June 17, 2013, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present:  J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Donald H. Remedies, Vice President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, James R. Martin, Dale Skinner, and Terrell Snelling. 

 

Absent:  Imon Jones

 

The President called the meeting to order, the invocation was offered, the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered and the visitors were recognized. 

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

Ms. Debra Lee, Director of Federal Programs and Curriculum, gave a Power Point Presentation of the 2013 Test Scores.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Administrative and Extended Teacher Salary Schedules. 

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to adopt the following resolution:

 

RESOLUTION

Consider and Take Action With Respect to Adopting a Resolution Ordering and Calling Special Elections to be Held in (i) Many School District No.34 of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, to Authorize the Incurring of Debt and Issuance of Bonds and (ii) Sales Tax District No. 1 (Many) of Parish School Board of the Parish of Sabine, State of Louisiana, to Authorize the Levy of a Sales and Use Tax Therein: Making Application to the State Bond Commission; and Providing for Other Matters in Connection Therewith.

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to authorize the Superintendent to Determine Central Office Work Schedule (Skinner)

 

On motion by Terrell Snelling and seconded by Donald H, Remedies, it was carried to approve and adopt the following amended policies (Second Reading)

On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to award the bid to AmeriGas at the rate of $1.44 per gallon.  Four bids were received:

 

Amerigas          $1.44/Gallon

O’Neal Gas       $1.69/Gallon

Ferrell Gas        $1.55/Gallon

Jim’s South       $1.79/Gallon

 

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to accept the high bid for Fiscal Agent of Sabine State Bank -  .17% interest on the daily collected balance and no fees.  Two bids were received for Fiscal Agent:

 

Sabine State Bank – .17% interest on the daily collected balance and no fees.

City Bank – .10% and waive all maintenance and activity charges.
