The Parish School Board met in public session on February 4, 2013, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present: J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Donald H. Remedies, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, James R. Martin, Dale Skinner, and Terrell Snelling.
All members were present for this meeting.
The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to amend agenda item IX. B. to read: Four Many FFA students and two (2) advisors to travel to Tulsa, OK. for High School Senior’s Welding Contest on February 22-24, 2013 (1 school day) – Monetary assistance requested.
There was a presentation by Nan Arthur, Assistant Extension Agent – 4-H Youth Development.
Sandra Cosio, Director of Student Support Services, and Shelly Rivers, Coordinator of Student Support Services, presented awards for School and District 2013 Students of the Year:
A. Elizabeth Richwine, Grade 5, Florien High School – Elementary School
B. Emeri Manasco, Grade 8, Many Junior High School –Middle School
C. Lincoln Pearce, Grade 12, Florien High School – High School
D. Student of the Year for Each School were presented Certificates
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda:
· Approval of January 7, 2013, Minutes as Signed
· Approval of Budget Revision #1 for 21st CCLC Cohart 7 – 6 month extension

On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to take the following two bids received for a 2013, 84 Passenger Bus for Negreet High School, under advisement: Piler International - $105,995.00 and Ross Bus Sales - $118,755.00
No bids were received for the pitching machine at Converse High School.
On motion by Terrell Snelling and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to authorize the school to dispose of the pitching machine in the most efficient manner.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to approve the request for Out-of-State Travel and Monetary Assistance for:
· Many FFA and Advisor to travel to Panola Junior College in Carthage, TX, to participate in Welding Contest for Seniors on February 7, 2013 – Expenses paid by Many FFA
· Four (4) Many FFA and two (2) Advisors to travel to Tulsa, OK, for High School Seniors’ Welding Contest on February 22-24, 2013 (1 school day) – Monetary assistance approved
On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to cancel the February 18, 2013, Board Meeting (President’s Day).
Under the Superintendent’s Report, Dr. Ebarb discussed the following:
A. Updated Organizational Chart
B. School Safety Report
C. Vision Logo
D. New SRCL Grant
The Board was polled by phone on January 29th since there were no Board meetings before the CHS students planned to travel out-of-state on January 31, 2013, to attend the Columbia Space Tragedy Anniversary In Hemphill, TX. The information on the trip was not received in a timely manner so the Board voted unanimously to let the students attend. Approximately 120 students,
9-12 grades and sufficient chaperones participated.
