The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on November 5, 2012, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present: J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, James R. Martin, Donald H. Remedies, and Dale Skinner.
All members were present for this meeting.
The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.
A presentation of our School Performance Score Results was given by Debra Lee, Title I Director.
A report on Act I Revised Teacher Salary Schedule and Guidelines was given by Rodney Wilson, Accounting Manager. Informational only, no action taken.
On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the October 15, 2012, minutes as signed.
No bids were received for a 1997 GMC Pick-up truck at Florien High School
On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to allow the Principal to dispose of the 1997 GMC Pick-up truck in the most efficient manner.
On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by James R. Martin, it was carried to cancel the November 19, 2012, Board Meeting because of the Thanksgiving Holidays.
On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to authorize the Administration to transfer 2.5 million dollars from the Sales Tax Fund to the General Fund for the purpose of paying salaries and benefits.
On motion by James R. Martin and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to authorize the administration to move one-fourth (1/4) of the Sales Tax Surplus each year to a Reserve Fund to be used to defray salary costs in the General Fund. (This reserve shall be funded by the sales tax levy passed in 1970).
The Superintendent’s Report was informational only and Dr. Ebarb informed the Board that after the Board was polled on October 19, 2012, unanimous permission was given for out-of-state travel and monetary assistance for 2 adults and 2 FFA students at Florien High School to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, on October 23-27, 2012.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
