The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on September 17, 2012, at 6:15 p. m. for a Public Meeting and a regular meeting of the Board to follow. This was held at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present:
J. A. “Buddy Veuleman, President, Terrell Snelling, Vice-President, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, J. R. Martin, Donald H, Remedies, and Dale skinner.
At 6:15 p. m. a Public Hearing was held to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.
There was no public input and the Public Hearing adjourned and the regular meeting of the Board began at 6:30 p. m.:
The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.
Roll Call: All Board Members were present except Roderick Davis.
On motion by J. R. Martin and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to approve and adopt the September 4, 2012, minutes as presented.
On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to adopt the following resolution:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Sabine Parish School Board of the Parish of Sabine, Louisiana, in a public meeting held on September 17, 2012, which meeting was conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Law and the additional requirements of Article VII, Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B), that the following adjusted millage rates be and they are hereby levied upon the dollar of the assessed valuation of all property subject to ad valorem taxation within said Parish for the year 2012, for the purpose of raising revenue:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Assessor of the Parish of Sabine shall extend upon the assessment roll for the year 2012 the taxes herein levied, and the tax collector of said Parish shall collect and remit the same to said taxing authority in accordance with law.
The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

On a motion by Dale Skinner, seconded by William D. Garcie the following resolution was adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Sabine Parish School Board of the Parish of Sabine, Louisiana, in a public meeting held on September, 2012, which meeting was conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Law and the additional requirements of Article VII, Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B), that the taxing district voted to increase the millage rate(s), but not in excess of the prior year’s maximum rate(s), on all taxable property shown on the official assessment roll for the year 2012, and when collected, the revenues from said taxes shall be used only for the specific purposes for which said taxes have been levied. Said millage rate(s) are:

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Donald Remedies, it was carried to approve the Revised

On motion by William D. Garcie and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to advise the Administration to advertise for the following items:
A. Refurbished Desktop Computers
B. Refurbished Laptop Computers
On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to approve the advertisement for the sale of a 1997 GMC Pick-up truck at Florien High School.
On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Donald Remedies, it was carried to approve for adoption the following School Board Policies (Second Reading):
A. File: GBRIBB, Sick Leave Bank (New Policy) to be implemented in July 2013
B. File: GBRIB, Sick Leave (Revised)
C. File: GBRHA, Sabbatical Leave (Revised)
The Superintendent’s Report was given during the public hearing, no action was taken, informational only.
