The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on March 19, 2012, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present:

J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, J. R. Martin, Donald H. Remedies, and Dale Skinner.

All members were present at this meeting.

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, an Invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

Presentation of Awards for School and District 2013 Teachers of the Year were presented by Ms. Cara Leggett, Supervisor of Administrative Services, as follows:

A.     Teacher of the Year from Each School

B.    Angela Knight, Elementary Teacher of the Year – Negreet High School

C.    Amanda Gibbs, Middle  School Teacher of the Year – Florien High School

D.    Dewey Eaves, High School Teacher of the Year – Zwolle High School

There was a presentation and Public Hearing on Redistricting Plan by Cedric Floyd from the Data Center.  This was comments only, no action was taken.  The Redistricting Plan will be voted on at the next Board Meeting on April 2, 2012.

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows

·         Approval of March 5, 2012, Minutes, as Signed

·          Approval of Out-of-State Travel:

A.     Girls’ Basketball Team & students at Negreet High School to travel to Galveston, TX  on May 18, 2012

B.     Baseball Team at Negreet High School & students to travel to Houston, TX, to watch baseball game on May 5-6, 2012

·      Approval of Budget Revision #1 for FY2011 EduJobs Carryover Grant

·      Personnel

A.     Sabbatical – Allisen James, Grade 3 Teacher at Negreet High School, requests a Sabbatical Leave for Professional Development for the 1^st semester of the 2012-2013 SY

B.     Employment

1.   David Jordan, Trent Partridge, and Terry Anthony, volunteer assistant baseball CECP Coaches, Florien High School, effective March 20, 2012

2.   Toby Remedies, volunteer CECP Baseball Coach, Zwolle High, effective March 20, 2012

C.  Resignation

Rudy Hennigan, Homebound, effective February 29, 2012

On motion by Terrell D. Snelling and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve the School Calendar for SY 2012-2013. 

The Superintendent’s Report was comments only, no action was taken. 

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
