The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on March 5, 2012, at 6:30 P. M, at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present: 

 

J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, J. R. Martin, Donald H. Remedies, and Dale Skinner.

 

All members were present at this meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, an Invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

 

On motion by J. R. Martin and seconded by Donald H. Remedies, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

 

·         Approval of February 27, 2012, Minutes, as Signed       

 

·         Approval of Out-of-State Travel for Negreet Yearbook Students to travel to Arlington, TX, as reward for completion of 2011-12 Indian Yearbook 

 

·          Approval of Head Start Continuation Grant – Budget - $1,589,778

 

·         Approval of 2012-2013 Head Start Training and Technical Assistance Plan

 

·          Approval of LA4 Early Childhood Program Application for Project Funds

July 1, 2012 – June 30, 2013

 

·         Personnel

1.  Waylon Salter, High School English, PHHS, effective March 6, 2012

2.  Wayne (Buck) Yates, CECP Softball Coach, CHS, effective March 6, 2012

On motion by J. R. Martin and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to approve and adopt Revised School Board Policy File:  IDDF, Education of Students with Exceptionalities (Second Reading)

 

On motion by J. R. Martin and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to advise the Administration to Advertise to receive bids for the following:

 

A.    Fiscal Agent

B.  Independent Auditor – Three (3) Year Contract

C.  Insurance

1.  Property Insurance

2.  Equipment Breakdown Coverage

3.  General Liability

4.  Educators’ Legal Liability

5.  Automotive – Liability

6.  Automotive – Comprehensive & Collision

7.  Employee Honesty    

 

Under Superintendent’s Report Dr. Ebarb discussed the $1.8 million cut in the MFP and the State Superintendent, John White’s visit to Sabine Parish on June 6, 2012.    No action was taken, information only.
