The Sabine Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, held a public meeting on September 19, 2011, at 6:30 P. M. at the School Board Title I Meeting Room, with the following members present:  J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, and Denyse Williams.

 

All members were present for this meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by the President, the invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

 

The Board was addressed by Ms. Sally Spann.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to instruct the Interim Superintendent to respond to Ms. Spann’s questions in writing before the next scheduled Board Meeting.

 

Mr. Skinner requested to pull item VII. B. 3. off the Consent agenda for discussion.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Spencer Faust, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda except for item VII. B. 3.

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to adopt the following millage(s) on a roll call vote:

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the proper administrative officials of the Parish of Sabine, State of Louisiana, be and they are hereby empowered, authorized, and directed to spread said taxes, as hereinabove set forth, upon the assessment roll of said Parish for the year 2011, and to make the collection of the taxes imposed for and on behalf of the taxing authority, according to law, and that the taxes herein levied shall become a permanent lien and privilege on all property subject to taxation as herein set forth, and collection thereof shall be enforceable in the manner provided by law.

 

            The foregoing resolution was read in full, the roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was adopted by the following votes:

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to request an Attorney General’s opinion for properties that have been disposed of by the Sabine Parish School Board. 

 

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to approve Change Order #3 (Three) for classroom additions for Florien High School which increases the amount of $773.20 to the balance.  

 

On motion by Terrel Snelling and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve and adopt new policy, File: IDFAB, Sports Injury Management and Concussions.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to employ Paula Pearson as SWAS teacher at Pleasant Hill High School.  Roll call vote:  All

On motion by Denyse Williams and seconded by Roderick Davis, it was carried to approve the job description for Licensed Professional Nurse (LPN), to be added to the Sabine Parish School Board Personnel Evaluation Plan.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to approve the LPN Salary Schedule.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Terrell Snelling, the contract for the Superintendent of Sabine Parish Schools, Sara P. Ebarb, Ed.D., was ratified.
