The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on July 25, 2011, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board, with the following members present: 

 

J. A. "Buddy" Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, and Denyse Williams.  

 

All members were present at this meeting.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered, and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

 

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Roderick Davis, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda, as follows:

 

A.  Annual Bids - August 1, 2011 - July 31, 2012
 

(1) Milk - Bid was awarded to Foremost Dairies, the only vendor to bid.

(2) Bread - Bid was awarded to (IBC) Cotton Holsum, the only vendor to bid.
 

B.  Bi-annual Bids - August 1, 2011 - January 31, 2012
 

(1)  Fresh, Frozen and Canned - Bid was awarded to SYSCO of East Texas. Other bidder  was REINHART

(2)  Paper and Cleaning Supplies - Bids were received from REINHART, LONG’S PREFERRED PRODUCTS, SYSCO of EAST TEXAS, and SAYES

On motion by Donald H. Remedies and seconded by Terrell D. Snelling, it was carried to grant a Certificate of Completion for the new addition at Zwolle Elementary School.

 

On motion by Donald H. Remedies and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to authorize the approval of the issuance of a Visa Credit Card to each, Zwolle High School and Zwolle Elementary School.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to amend the agenda, Item VI., to include Desoto Parish Campus and Natchitoches Parish Campus.

 

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded Spencer Faust, it was carried to authorize the Interim Superintendent to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Sabine Parish School Board and the Louisiana Technical College, Sabine Valley Campus Articulation Agreement, 2011-2012, and also with the DeSoto Campus and Natchitoches Campus.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to approve for adoption the revised policies and one (1) new policy of the Sabine Parish School Board (second reading):

 

           A.  File:  GBC, Recruitment

           B.  File:  GBD, Employment Personnel

           C.  Credit Recovery

           D.  LVS (Louisiana Virtual School) Regulation Added

           E.  Sabine Parish Online Learning (New)

                 a.  Facilitator Contract

                 b.  Student/Parent Contract  
 

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell D. Snelling, it was carried that the PHHS students would not be required to wear uniforms per survey taken where 82% of the parents/guardians voted against wearing uniforms, beginning with the 2011-2012 SY.
