The Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on March 21, 2011, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present:  J. A. ”Buddy” Veuleman, President, Terrell D. Snelling, Vice-President, Roderick Davis, Spencer Faust, William D. Garcie, Imon Jones, Donald H. Remedies, Dale Skinner, and Denyse Williams.  All members present.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Veuleman, the Invocation was offered and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered.

 

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to amend the agenda to reconsider the salary adjustment for Linda Landreneau and Jill Rutherford, Business Office employees, at the last meeting and place it on the Agenda as Item III.A.   

 

On motion by Spencer Faust and seconded by Roderick Davis, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

  2. Staci Parrie Meshell, PALS Secretary, effective February 22, 2011

On motion by Dale Skinner and seconded by Terrell Snelling, it was carried to rescind the motion for a pay raise for Linda Landreneau and Jill Rutherford that was made at March 14, 2011, meeting.   (A study will be done on Salary Schedules for employees by the Finance Committee.)

 

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to approve the Agreement between the Sabine Parish School Board and Yeager, Watson & Associates, Inc. , for Job #2010-20 Classroom Additions, for Florien High School 

 

On motion by Imon Jones and seconded by Denyse Williams, it was carried to authorize the Administration to advertise for construction for classroom additions at Florien High School.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by William D. Garcie, it was carried to authorize Argent Property Services, LLC, to advertise for bids for an Oil, Gas, and Mineral Lease of the property described as, On That Certain 193.0 Acres, Owned by the Sabine Parish School Board, Located in Section 16, Township 8 North, Range 14 West, Sabine Parish, Louisiana.

 

On motion by Denyse Williams and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to adopt the 9 week, 1 week calendar with 1 week Fall Break and 1 week Spring Break, with school beginning on August 10, 2011.

 

On motion by Donald Garcie and seconded by Dale Skinner, it was carried to grant Ebarb High School FBLA permission for out-of-parish travel and monetary assistance to travel to Baton Rouge on March 27-29, 2011, to compete in State contest (10 students and 3 adults).

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Imon Jones, it was carried to allow a Budget deficit for school year 2010-2011, for budget cuts as mandated by the State.

 

No official action was taken on projected budget cuts to 2011-2012 SY as mandated by the State. 

 

The Salary Schedule and End-of-Year Bonus Check was referred to the Finance Committee.   Robert Lewis, Business Manager, Karla Knippers, Payroll Clerk, and Rosie Sullivan, School Food Service Supervisor, were appointed to serve on the committee.  The committee will meet Monday, March 28, 2011, at 4:00 P. M.

 

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned.
