The Sabine Parish School Board of Sabine Parish, Louisiana, met in public session on August 16, 2010, at 6:30 P. M. at the regular meeting place of said Board with the following members present:  Imon Jones, President, Roderick Davis, James W. House, Donnie F. Sistrunk, Sr., Jack Sanders, Harold Stewart, J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, and J. Randall Veuleman.

 

Absent:  Denyse Williams, Vice-President

 

The meeting was called to order by the President, the Invocation was offered and the Pledge of Allegiance was rendered. 

 

The Extension Agents for Sabine Parish appeared before the Board and gave an update of past and present 4-H events.

 

On motion by Donnie F. Sistrunk and seconded by J. Randall Veuleman, it was carried to approve the Consent Agenda as follows:

The Special Revenue Funds Budgets were presented by Robert Lewis, Business Manager.

 

On motion by J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman and seconded by Roderick Davis, it was carried to advise the Administration to publish a summary of the Special Revenue Funds Budgets in The Sabine Index.

 

On motion by Jack Sanders and seconded by James House, it was carried to grant out-of-state travel and monetary assistance to Alyssa Cook and Traci Partridge, Florien J.V. Cheerleaders to travel to Orlando, FL, to perform at the Capital One Bowl All American Halftime Spectacular which is held on New Year’s Day.

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by Jack Sanders, it was carried to grant out-of state travel and monetary assistance for students and chaperones for the following:

 

The Florien FFA Chapter will have three teams competing at the upcoming National FFA Convention in October.  The convention will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana.  Those competing at Nat. Conv. include the Floriculture Team - Jacob Slaughter, Zachary Harrision, Joshua Maxie, and Christian Duhon; Agriscience Fair-Botany-Division III - Lincoln Pearce and Maressa Powell; Agriscience Fair-Botany-Division IV - Janney Arthur and Ashlee Bennett.  Mrs. Jan Arthur will be judging the National Prepared Public Speaking Contest.  Serving as chaperones are Amy Green, Pam Pearce, and Jason Green (male chaperone)

 

On motion by Donnie F. Sistrunk, Sr. and seconded by J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, it was carried to advertise a trailer (5’X16’) for sale at Converse High School with a minimum bid of $750.00. 

 

On motion by Roderick Davis and seconded by James House, it was carried to approve the Sabine Parish Pupil Progression Plan for SY 2010-2011.

 

On motion by James W. House and seconded by J. A. “Buddy” Veuleman, it was carried to give notice of the need for Reduction in Force (RIF) and authorize the Superintendent to prepare a recommendation of the specific action which should be taken by the Board.
